“There’s no one-size-fits-all treatment for menopause”
- Cherity B., 50 |
|
In 2020, at 45, I was diagnosed with hormone-sensitive breast cancer. A few years later, I began experiencing a range of frustrating symptoms: joint pain, fatigue, anxiety, weight gain that wouldn’t budge, brain fog, irritability, mood swings, and fluid retention. It was overwhelming—and took a toll on my marriage.
After talking with a few close friends, I realized I was likely going through menopause. That’s when I discovered Midi. I learned there are treatment options beyond HRT—essential for someone like me, since hormone therapy isn’t right for my type of cancer.
I discussed alternative solutions with my clinician and ultimately decided to try semaglutide. The persistent weight gain had been fueling my anxiety and stress, so addressing it was a priority. And it’s working. I’m experiencing less joint pain, no more edema, better energy, clearer thinking—and I’m losing weight!

The most recent episode of Midi’s new YouTube series gets frank about sex, intimacy, and libido. Check out the full episode here—and get a sneak peek at one of the topics covered below.
The expert: Kathleen Jordan, MD, Midi’s Chief Medical Officer
Q: “Are there any medications that can help improve libido during menopause?”
A: There are three prescription medications commonly used to support libido: Vyleesi (a self-injection), Addyi (a daily pill), and testosterone. Many clinicians tend to prefer testosterone—not just for libido, but because it can offer additional benefits like improved energy, mood, and muscle health.
That said, medication isn’t a magic fix. Whether or not you’re prescribed one of these options, it’s just one piece of the puzzle. Factors like sleep, vaginal dryness, relationship dynamics, and simply finding the right time and space for intimacy all play a big role in your sex drive. Addressing the whole picture is key to real, lasting change.
