The most recent episode of Midi’s new YouTube series addresses brain health questions, including why you may be feeling so foggy lately. Check out the full episode here—and get a sneak peek at one of the topics covered below.
The expert: Kathleen Jordan, MD, Midi’s Chief Medical Officer
Q: “Is it brain fog—or something more serious?”
A: We all lose our train of thought mid-sentence or blank on a person’s name from time to time. That’s normal. But if you notice it’s happening more frequently, chances are it’s brain fog, which is very common during midlife. In fact, 73% of Midi patients say they experience it. And for the vast majority of us, it’s not a sign of something more serious, like dementia.
What’s going on: Estrogen decline can negatively affect brain activity associated with learning and memory. On top of that, other menopause symptoms, like insomnia and mood changes, can make it harder to think clearly.
The good news: Brain fog is temporary. That said, it’s a tough symptom to tough out, so Midi offers a range of solutions. Hormone replacement therapy, stress reduction techniques, certain supplements, and getting enough Zzz’s can all make a huge difference for your focus and memory.
Book a Midi visit to get a personalized Care Plan to treat brain fog—and whatever else you may be experiencing. And if Alzheimer’s or dementia is truly a concern, your Midi clinician can set you up for screening.
