Gynecological conditions like endometriosis, PCOS, uterine fibroids, painful periods (dysmenorrhea), and an irregular menstrual cycle can increase the chance of heart disease and stroke, shows a new study. Study authors say that while more research is needed, this increased risk may be due to the fact that these conditions can cause inflammation throughout the body.
At Midi, we help keep an eye on your cardiovascular health (menopause also brings an increased chance of heart issues). Our clinicians are experts in women’s midlife health and can help guide you to a Care Plan that will help protect your ticker. |

Women in their 30s are toughing out perimenopause symptoms for far too long before seeking medical treatment, says recent research from UVA Health and Flo. The study found that more than half of women ages 30 to 35 are already experiencing moderate to severe perimenopause symptoms, including irregular periods, hot flashes, and painful sex. Yet, many of these women wait until their 50s—decades later—to consult a doctor.
At Midi, we believe it’s never too early to start managing perimenopause symptoms so you feel better now and in the future. By taking charge of your health today, you can help prevent midlife weight gain, boost your libido, protect your bone and brain health, and more. Book a Midi visit to get your personalized perimenopause Care Plan.

“Midi saved my life—seriously.”
|

I started experiencing symptoms in my late 40s: fatigue, muscle pain at night, and strange, small areas of muscular twitching. I had no clue it could be perimenopause. I went to my primary care physician, who did the usual labs and put me on birth control and an antidepressant.
My symptoms didn’t improve. In fact, they only worsened. I began experiencing crushing social anxiety and had suicidal thoughts, which were really scary. I knew something had to change.
Luckily, I came across Midi on Instagram. My clinician not only listened, she saved my life—seriously. A week after starting HRT I noticed a huge change in my moods. Two weeks in, I cried to my husband, ‘I am feeling back to normal!’ Now I recommend Midi to everyone I can.

Ask a Midi Clinician |

Q: “My Midi clinician ordered a DEXA scan. What can I expect?”
A: First, a quick recap on why she ordered the test: Estrogen helps maintain bone strength and density, so when levels decline during menopause, your bone density may drop below normal—a condition called osteopenia. Without treatment, bone loss can progress to osteoporosis, a disease that dramatically raises your risk of fracture. A DEXA scan (Dual-Energy X-Ray Absorptiometry) is a quick, painless way to assess the health of your bones.
During the scan, you’ll lie fully clothed on a padded platform while an X-ray machine arm passes above you. The test lasts about 10 minutes, and the amount of radiation used is extremely low. You won’t feel anything during the scan. Plan to dress in loose, comfortable clothing and avoid wearing anything metal (buckles, buttons, zippers), which can interfere with the scan.
Wondering if you could benefit from a DEXA scan—or what other steps you can take to bolster your bone health? Book a Midi visit to discuss your best next steps and get a Care Plan that helps protect your bones.
