Patients often ask if they’ll have the same menopause symptoms as their mom. The answer: not necessarily.

While genetics can influence when menopause begins, your symptoms are determined by multiple factorsβ€”including your lifestyle. So if your mom suffered through epic night sweats, that doesn’t automatically mean you’ll deal with the same.

That said, family history does matter for other aspects of midlife health. A few to know:

  • Osteoporosis: A maternal history of osteoporosis (and especially hip fracture) could mean you have a higher risk of both.

  • Heart disease: Share any history of heart disease, stroke, or cardiac eventsβ€”especially if your mom experienced them before age 65β€”with your clinician.

  • Mental health: A family history of depression or anxiety can increase your risk.

At Midi, we’re on top of it, and we’ll guide you toward solutions that set you up for a stronger future. Book a virtual visit to get a Care Plan personalized to your specific symptoms and health history.

β€œEvery woman should know about Midi.”

- Christy F.,Β MidiΒ patient

For over a year, I felt completely off. I was exhausted, irritable, and losing my words mid-sentence. With a family history of dementia, the brain fog was especially frightening.

When I saw an ad for Midi and realized they took my insurance and offered virtual visits, I booked right away. As a mom of three running a business, fitting in traditional appointments felt impossible. From my very first visit, my clinician listened, believed me, and helped me understand what was happening in my body.

We started with progesterone to help my sleep. When there was still room for improvement, we added an estrogen patch and adjusted the dose over time. The difference has been life-changing. My brain fog has lifted, my energy is back, and I’m no longer as irritable. I finally feel like myself againβ€”even my husband has noticed!
