If the last time you peed on a stick was to find out whether you were pregnant, well, welcome to the midlife version: At-home menopause tests are everywhere right now, promising answers about what stage of the menopause journey you’re in, based on levels of hormones like follicle-stimulating hormone.
Here’s the catch: Your hormones don’t check neat yes-or-no boxes. They fluctuate daily, even hourly—especially in perimenopause—and a single test can’t definitively tell you what’s going on. So you might be dealing with hot flashes, sleep issues, and mood shifts…all with a “negative” test result.
That’s why, at Midi, your clinician looks at everything: your symptoms, cycle changes, and health history. So if something feels off, bring it to your clinician. You don’t have to figure this out on your own. |

“If your doctor dismisses your symptoms, find a new one!”
- Janet B., Midi patient
|
|
I went to several different doctors before finding Midi, including two primary care physicians and at least three different gynecologists. Not one of them mentioned perimenopause as a possible reason for my symptoms: weight gain, aches, fatigue, and trouble sleeping.
I took matters into my own hands. I tried multiple supplements, working out, different diets—nothing helped. Then I found Midi and a clinician who actually listened to me. She prescribed HRT, and I finally started to sleep through the night and lose weight. I feel so much better, it’s amazing!
I want other women to know that if your doctor dismisses your symptoms, find a new one. Keep looking until you find someone who listens to you because it’s life-changing when you actually do get help. |
