What’s “Normal” for Estradiol Levels?

At Midi, we don’t routinely test estradiol, the body’s most powerful form of estrogen. Instead, we focus on symptoms to guide your care. But many women come to us with test results already in hand, asking if their estradiol looks normal.

The truth is, there’s no one straight answer, since estradiol levels change across your lifetime:

  • Reproductive years: Estradiol rises and falls throughout your cycle—peaking around ovulation and dipping before your period.

  • Perimenopause: Estradiol doesn’t just decline—it dances all over the place. If you test during this stage, your result might look “normal” one day and low the next, which is why a single test usually isn’t reliable.

  • Menopause: Estradiol settles into a lower, steadier range. This shift can affect everything from bone and heart health to metabolism, skin, and libido.

“Normal” estradiol levels can’t be defined by one number, and how you feel matters more than a single lab value. That’s why your Midi clinician will look at the full picture and take your age, symptoms, and so much more into account.

Midi Diaries

“Midi treated me as a person, not a set of symptoms.”

- Carroll S., Midi patient

I came to Midi after years of feeling dismissed. When I talked to my general practitioner about perimenopause symptoms like hot flashes and brain fog, I was told to “hang in there.” But those symptoms were affecting my work, sleep, and quality of life.

From my first visit, my Midi clinician listened. We focused on what mattered most to me and started HRT right away. We checked in often and adjusted my care as needed, and I started seeing results: My hot flashes stopped and the brain fog lifted.

What made Midi different was the partnership. My clinician treated me as a whole person, not a set of symptoms, and made me feel confident there was a solution—even if it took time to get there. Now, I feel better at work, more present at home, and supported in a way I never was before.
