Bridging the MANopause Gap

Ever wish the men in your life really got what you’re going through? Journalist and menopause advocate Tamsen Fadal knows the feeling. “I didn’t know what was happening to me. And if I was clueless, Ira was totally in the dark,” she says of her husband.

That shared confusion inspired a new collaboration between Midi and Tamsen: the free The Men’s Guide to Understanding Menopause. It’s a straightforward, stigma-busting resource designed to help men grasp what menopause really means, complete with symptom insights, connection-strengthening tips, and ways to offer meaningful support.

Ask a Midi Clinician

The expert: Mindy Goldman, MD, Midi’s Chief Clinical Officer

Q: “Can I take HRT if I have a family history of breast cancer?

A: In most cases, yes. Women with a family history of breast cancer—even those with a hereditary gene mutation that increases risk—can often use hormone replacement therapy safely. Current evidence shows that HRT does not further increase breast cancer risk for these women.*

That said, it’s important to stay proactive about breast health. Regular exams and imaging—like mammograms and, in some cases, MRIs—are key to ongoing monitoring. If cancer is detected, your Midi clinician will consult your oncologist about the right path forward for your menopause care.

HRT can be a safe and effective way to ease menopause symptoms, but it’s not right for everyone. Your Midi clinician will help you decide what’s best for you and discuss other options if needed.
