Q: Can hormone replacement therapy cause weight gain?
A: Research hasn’t found a link between HRT and weight gain. In fact, the opposite can happen—many women actually lose belly fat once they start HRT. One study showed that after just 3 months, women not only dropped overall body fat but also slimmed down their waist-to-hip ratio.
And the benefits don’t stop there. Better sleep, a brighter mood, less joint pain—HRT can make it easier to move your body, eat well, and feel like yourself again, all of which support weight loss.
If the scale does creep up while you’re on HRT, it’s not a dead end. A Midi clinician can review your Care Plan and see if small tweaks—like adjusting your HRT dose or adding more fiber to your diet—could get you back on track with your weight goals and keep your symptoms under control.
